New beginnings

With all the children off to school and study over for now, I am taking up the challenge that new beginnings always offer. After a week of rest I am beginning to set up my tiny business, run from the property I love, in the hills that I adore. How lucky I am.

Embracing the resilient Permaculture lifestyle that I would love to live, my tiny business will be offering a suite of related services and products, designed to fill a year with flexible and variable activities, keeping me active and interested.

School sessions are my home. In my past career I could deliver school sessions all day without missing a beat. I found creating new session outlines a creative experience, and I’m delighted to find I can still do it. I love to teach and I love to engage. I love to connect children with their world and their environment. I know without a doubt that environmental encounters; learning about plants, insects, animals. seasonal cycles and connectedness, can be life changing. Ripples of positive environmental behaviours sweeping into the future.

This property, ten acres to play with and develop as a productive garden, farm and wildlife habitat, is central to my family and tiny business. With the exciting developments happening around the world in regenerate agriculture and eco-agriculture, I have loved to be part of this, envisaging my tiny environmentally friendly egg and chicken farm. My garden awaits its full development.

The final piece of the puzzle is the Permaculture and gardening workshops for adults that I run in the community, and in the future at our property. While I am confident to teach (and I love it) this one is more a slow and steady development. For now I have a couple of sessions booked at the local library.

At risk of having too many tabs open in my brain, I took a week of rest (people were very surprised!) and decided on setting up one thing at a time. After almost 15 years of being home with children during the day, it is exhilarating to be able to actually do the things that have been spinning away in my imagination, jumping in to this new beginning with joy and enthusiasm.
